Bill Santos came to the Riverland when he was 22 years old. He worked on projects to re-establish Renmark following the 1956 flood. In 1964 Bill purchased a mobile concrete plant and in 1966, along with his partner Ludwig Meisner, work commenced from the Spring Cart Gully site. In 1969 Bill bought out his partner and the Santos Ready Mixed Concrete company commenced.

Charlene Santos is the Company Secretary and has been responsible for the smooth running of the administration of company over the years whilst maintaining the home front for their four children, Jennifer, Kathryn, John and Paul. Charlene is a Life Member of the Renmark Meals on Wheels and long supporter of the Royal Adelaide Women’s and Children Hospital.

On completion of year 12 Paul Santos commenced his Diesel Mechanic Apprentice with Blackwood Hodge and worked for them for seven years. He then moved on to Hasting Deering at Alice Springs as a Field Service and Diesel Mechanic. Paul returned to the family company in 1993 as a mechanic and in charge of the workshop. Implemented the “Preventive Maintenance program” and the oversaw the updating of the present fleet of Isuzu trucks
